The tour started in the basement of the Nebraska State Office Building, in Lincoln Nebraska on April 27th, 2000.  There are almost 1100 employees of HHSS here and almost 5000 pieces of computer equipment that IS&T must maintain and keep track of.

The basement of the Nebraska State Office Building houses one of the busiest phone centers in the entire state government.  This is where the HHSS Technical Support Help Desk is located. The kids were shown around the center and got to see the call takers and some of the monitoring equipment used by the staff at the Help Desk.

They also were shown around our warehouse. This is where we ship and store all the computer equipment used by HHSS employees.  Hundreds of items move in and out of this place every week.

Last but not least, the tour went on to visit the 5th floor setup area.  This is where we repair broken PCs, load or reload software on PCs along with the testing and repair of monitors, printers, laptops, and various other computer equipment used by HHSS employees in the State Office Building.

Also on the tour was the 5th floor server room.  This is where most of the servers are located that keep the computers of HHSS up and running. There are application servers, printer servers, file servers, dial-in servers, CD-Rom servers, and even an AS-400.
